About SilentPeek

The problem

Instagram makes it painful to look at public content without participating. To watch a story, you need an account. To browse a feed, you need an account. To follow a hashtag, you need an account. And the moment you log in, your behaviour is tracked, feeds get personalised, and every view is attributed to you.

Marketers need to study competitors without polluting their data. Journalists need to research public figures without creating research accounts. Privacy-conscious people want to check on friends without rejoining a platform they left for good reasons. Parents want to see what their kids are posting without creating a second account.

What we do

SilentPeek is a thin browser-based layer over Instagram's public API. You enter a username, we fetch their public stories, posts, reels, highlights, and followers through our servers, and we show them to you. Your identity never reaches Instagram.

We are deliberately narrow:

  • We only access public content. Private accounts remain private.
  • We don't require you to log in. Free tier works without any account.
  • We don't run ads. Revenue comes from Premium subscriptions, period.
  • We don't track you across the internet.

Why subscription, not free

Building this properly costs money — Instagram's parsing infrastructure is adversarial and we pay per API request to our data provider. If we were ad-supported, the incentives would push us to track users and personalise feeds. Subscription keeps us aligned with you.

Free tier exists as a genuine product surface, not a dark-pattern trial — you can watch, browse, and download single items indefinitely without paying. Premium unlocks tracking, notifications, bulk exports, and 20x the rate limits.

Who we are

A small team of engineers who dislike surveillance-capitalism tooling. We operate out of the EU, process payments through PCI-compliant providers, and refuse advertising partnerships.
